Job Summary:
The Mental Health Therapist will provide individual, family, and child-focused therapeutic services, helping clients navigate emotional and behavioral challenges. This role involves conducting assessments, developing personalized treatment plans, and utilizing evidence-based approaches—specifically trauma-focused interventions—to support mental well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, and child-focused therapy in outpatient and limited community settings (such as schools or shelters).
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, with a strong emphasis on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
- Collaborate with families to strengthen communication and foster positive behavioral interactions.
- Maintain a manageable caseload to ensure quality of care and client progress.
- Offer crisis intervention and ongoing emotional support.
- Provide counseling, skills training, and resource coordination to clients and families.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA standards when handling Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Maintain timely and accurate client records, progress reports, and required documentation for certification and supervision.
- Participate in ongoing professional training and development to stay current with best practices.
- Build and maintain an understanding of approved treatments, documentation guidelines, billing codes, and authorization requirements for all funding services utilized.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (required).
- Licensed or license-eligible in Nebraska (LIMHP, LMHP, LCSW, LICSW, LPC, PLMHP, or equivalent).
- Strong commitment to trauma-informed care and mental health advocacy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet client needs.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in using technology and electronic documentation systems.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional community-based therapy sessions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience providing therapy to individuals, families, or children.
- Experience providing mental health therapy in diverse community settings.
- Demonstrated experience in trauma-focused therapy, with preference for certification in TF-CBT.
